Low self esteem: how do you define such a phrase? One way is, its judging and rejecting of one's self. We all have the right to mode our own identity, by doing so we all have characteristics, some good, some not so good, some even bad. There are two problems that are considered significant when determining the cause of low self esteem, they are SITUATIONAL and CHARACTEROLOGICAL.
Most of the topics that I write about, I am directly or indirectly affected by them, but not this one, and I have my dad to thank, because he helped me to get an early start. I learned what a cross cut saw was at the age of five. I also learned you can do a lot of things if only you will believe in yourself.
In the U.S.A. the days of segregation took it's way on the black race. It was a struggle to be an example for the children. It took men like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers, and more to keep the fire burning in the hearts of black men and women that we are somebody. The road was hard to maintain a normal self esteem, when oppositions were everywhere, but many did.
I remember saying to my daddy, I can't pull that saw, he said boy don't ever say what you can't do until you try it first. My dad and I cut up a whole tree of fire wood, from that day forward I believed that I could do anything. I think it help mode me for my life, I've had many ups and downs, because of my positive thinking I've always persevered.
The diagnosis of low self esteem which is in theSITUATIONAL categoryhas a tendency to show up in certain areas, example, you might be a good nurse but a poor spouse and sex partner, or an excellent teacher, but find it hard to carry on a good conversation socially. The CHARACTEROLOGICAL categoryanalyze low self esteem as being very judgmental, because a person who hand out detriments to his or her self, has had negative thoughts about their own self worth, so this category is more about self identity.
Every human being has an inner voice, it chasten us when we do wrong, reward us when we do right, at least that is the way it is designed to work;however people with low self esteem have a more pessimistic voice whereas the psychologist labeled as a PATHOLOGICAL CRITIC. One who always label it's victim as a failure. This critic usually get it's start from one's early childhood, at the expense of parents guidance and counseling.
A child can carry these negative thoughts into adulthood, or even a lifetime, a good way to avoid damaging effects on self, is outlined in three simple steps: 1-know yourself 2-know your critics 3-be compassionate. By knowing self, you know your strengths and weaknesses, work on the parts that makes you who you want to be, use the critics for your prospering, some criticism can be good for you , accept the good discard the bad, and be compassionate beginning with self, then let it fan out among your acquaintances, because this problem is therapeutically resolved, don't forget the THERAPIST. Low Self Esteem
In dealing with this topic, there are two conditions, we must hold dear to our hearts: the need for respect from others, and the need for self respect.
If those two conditions are met, then you are on your way to low self esteem recovery. In order for that recovery to take shape with a true foundation, its good to include Plato's theory of knowledge; Justified True Belief.
The Plato's theory was solidified by two biblical figures, the one who was blind, said whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know, but one thing I do know, I was blind, now I see.
His knowledge, he was blind, his justification he met a man who gave him sight, his truth, I can see, his belief, he must have been special.
This man who's low self esteem made him feel like a nobody, met a man who gave him his sight, what if Stevie Wonder had chosen to be a beggar, we wouldn't have that's what friends are for, Nor ebony & ivory. We wouldn't have Ray Charles singing America the beautiful in it's original elegant style, or Georgia on my mind.
We are still justifying low self esteem. The second biblical figure is an apostle, who stated, "that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled". No greater explanation can exemplify the Plato's theory of knowledge, than that of John's testimony, 1John 1:1, the one whom the Messiah loved.
Well! Low self esteem is wrapped up in the Plato's theory whether you have a savior to come by, or you refuse to be a blind nobody, your justification will be in your struggle, your truth will be in your accomplishments, your belief will be in your stand. A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins.
Self esteem is something that is deep within the soul of an individual, whether its low, normal, high, or even arrogant, to get to it, one must understand the content of that heart.
If you find someone that is dirty, smelly, and hungry, if you take the individual home with you, give a hot bath, new clothes, and a hot meal, if you really want to help, you must go farther, to first establish a relationship, no one will open up unto someone they don't know, or trust.
Not all low self esteems are the same, they can range from (the lost of a love one, to despondency...etc...).
