Panic attack symptoms, according to the Wikipedia, symptoms of a panic attack most often last approximately thirty minutes;however some panic attack symptoms have been shorter, and some even longer. The symptoms vary,or the effects of a panic attack vary from person to person. Someone who is experiencing such an episode for the first time ,may think he/she is having a heart attack, or a serious breakdown of some kind.
Panic attack has been described as intense fear or apprehension that is sudden, a discrete period of intense fear and discomfort. Experiencing a panic attack has been said to be one of the most uncomfortable and frightening experiences of one's life. These episodes can be abrupt, and random, and are a subset of an evolutionary response commonly referred to as fight or flight, a response that flood the body with EPINEPHINE, a hormone that aid in defending the body against harm.
A response of this type is of the sympathetic nervous system(SNS) and it's most common symptoms are trembling, dyspnea, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chest pain hot flashes, sweating, nausea, dizziness, hyperventilation, these are just some of the symptoms, some or all may occur at one time or another because of a panic attack.
The psychology behind a panic attack is,while the symptoms make you feel that your body is failing,in reality it is protecting you from harm. I have heard it said, you become so fearful until you will hurt yourself, so there is a great need to understand all that you can about this episode of intense fear that is of a sudden onset,it may save you an emergency room visit, that can be very costly.
So then the anxiety which lead to the intense fear episode cause the adrenaline rush, which put the adrenal gland in an (APB)mode, all points bulletin, letting the body know of potential dangers via hormonal release.Note panic disorder has been found in family trees, the lack of assertiveness, these two factors can helpto determine the proper need for this attack.
Many people who experience a panic attack the first time, usually goes through some intense frightening experiences. They may feel or think they are having a nervous breakdown, or a massive heart attack.
Sufferers of panic attacks often report a fear or sense of I'm going to die, or I'm going crazy. They may feel like they are going to faint, or vomit. Some have numb sensation throughout the body, heavy breathing and usually hyperventilation, or losing control of themselves.
Some people suffer from tunnel vision, mostly due to blood flow leaving the head to more critical parts of the body in defense.
Panic disorder can be effectively treated with a variety of interventions, including psychological therapies, and medication with evidence that cognitive behaviour therapy, has the longest duration of effect, followed by specific selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
However, research by Barbara Milrod and her colleagues, has shown that psychoanalytic and psychotherapy are equally effective, in relieving panic attacks as behavioral approaches, and has fewer relapses. A psychoanalytic approach, that identifies actual but dissociated causes, of panic reactions can lead to rapid disappearance of symptoms.
